The Obsidian SG-One: A $1.3 Million Dollar Mustang - Gallery & Video

“I call the car Obsidian,” says Matt Couper, owner of CoupeR Design. “It’s the name of a black volcanic rock, made from molten lava, that’s sharper than a surgeon’s scalpel. I thought it was appropriate.” Yeah, pretty appropriate.

Aside from the roof and the doors, this car is completely custom. The CouprR Design team spent over 10,000 man hours on it, and it shows. It’s totally flawless, perfect Cobra-black with only a few bits of chrome for the trim and the vent covers.

The vents, by the way, are all fully functional, all 6 of them (that’s not counting the ones on the hood bulge). The 2 hidden scoops on the front valence feed air to the superchargers, the 2 scoops on the front fender force air to the front disc brakes - same goes for the 2 scoops on the rear quarter, they force air to the rear brakes. I guess when you have 847hp, you need a lot of stopping power.

Yeah, you read correctly. This car has a mostly custom, twin-supercharged, 5.7-litre V8; and when the twin Rotrex superchargers are spinning they get the engine up to exactly 847bhp according to the dyno. 847 horsepower; and 770 lbs/f of torque.
